How do you unplug? Do you have an unplugging practice?
Think of the last time you completely disconnected from your devices and unplugged for a few hours.
I like to unplug after long weekends of intense activity and energy.
For example, if I’m playing a few shows, going to circuit parties or attending festivals, those weekends can be really exhausting.
Fun as hell yes, but can completely drain me.
My me time of choice is usually finding time to either connect in nature and go for hikes, or if I’m by the water, take a walk on the beach.
There is power in recharging ourselves. We have become so addicted to our phones and we are charging our devices more than we are charging ourselves.
Developing a practice of unplugging is not only good for your mental fitness, but it’s good for your creative mind as well.
When we walk away from all our digital distractions it really allows us to be fully present at the moment and when we are present, ideas from that stillness come thru with clarity and ease.
One of the things I have my clients and students do is schedule a 3-hour unplugging block.
How they chose to spend those 3 hours is up to them, but it’s important that they schedule it and make it a priority just as they would an important appointment.
Spa time, massages, acupuncture, bubble baths, long brunches with your friends without your phones, dates with your lover or even quite dates with yourself are all great things to do when unplugging.
How you chose to spend it is up to you.
So, give it a try.
3 hours and let me know how it works.
I would be interested in hearing how hard or easy it was for you?
I’ve had clients struggle with this concept at first because of FOMO (fear of missing out).
Pay attention to the stories that are running in your head about you not having your device nearby.
And pay close attention to when that time is approaching. Do you want to bail on your me date?
Does another story start running about not having the time to do this now?
Pay close attention and let me know how it goes.
I look forward to hearing from you. Send me a DM on IG and let me know.
